The program consists of nine modules. Each module includes a short introductory video (1-2 minutes), information and instructions, home assignments, and the possibility to contact your therapist through an anonymous messaging function on the platform. Your work on each module, including watching the videos and reporting home assignments, is about 1-2 hours a week. The treatment is self-paced, which means you can carry out the treatment in a flexible way, at your convenience, at any time of the day. Your participation is completely anonymous.
The Prevent It team work closely with the researchers and practitioners involved in the Bridge research project, a collaboration between six EU-countries. In project Bridge two anonymous, online therapeutic interventions for individuals with concerns about their sexual urges involving minors and who use CSAM, are offered and evaluated; ReDirection, a cognitive behavioral therapy self-help program and Mi Bridge, five text-based chat sessions based on Motivational Interviewing. In the project the participants also have the opportunity to take part in an anonymous chat interview, exploring their views on and experiences of seeking help for problems related to their sexual interest in minors.

More about the Prevent It treatment program
The treatment program is offered within the framework of two ongoing research projects funded by the European Union and the Oak Foundation (for more details see Project page). We are now evaluating the second version of Prevent It in a randomized, waitlist controlled trial. The first version of Prevent It has been scientifically evaluated and proved to be effective, safe, and well-appreciated by participants (see results and quotes from previous participants). After the first clinical trial, we have revised the manual, considering clinical experience, patient feedback, and the statistical analyses of the patient data.
The treatment program is available in English, Swedish, German, and Portuguese.
The study has been approved by the Swedish Ethical Review Authority (Dnr 2022-03938-01) and it is conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki for research ethics.
